About Mount Ida, AR - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated in west-central Arkansas near the center of Ouachita National Forest, Mount Ida is the county seat of Montgomery County and reigning “Quartz Crystal Capital of the World.” The city boasts some of the world’s finest quartz crystal deposits and is a popular destination for rockhounds and gem collectors who come from around the world to prospect for crystals in the numerous “dig-your-own” crystal mines that populate the area.

Mount Ida is home to a population of approximately 1,000 residents who enjoy the moderate seasonal climate that provides perfect weather for year-round outdoor sports and recreation. Mount Ida is located within the boundaries of Ouachita National Forest, the nation’s oldest national forest that spans more than 1.8 million acres through central Arkansas and southeastern Oklahoma. The forest features numerous trails suitable for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding, as well as canoeing and fishing on the Caddo and Little Missouri rivers. The city is located within minutes of Crystal Vista, a crystal collecting area maintained and operated by the U.S. Forest Service that is located at the top of Gardner Mountain that overlooks the town. The site features prospecting for crystal points and white quartz rock and is a great place for a picnic with sweeping views of Lake Ouachita and the surrounding mountains.

Mountain Ida hosts a number of festivals and special events each year, including the World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig, a two-day crystal digging competition held each October at participating mines throughout the area. This event is held jointly with the Quartz, Quiltz, and Craftz Festival, a three-day gem and mineral show featuring local arts and crafts, a quilt competition, live music, and more at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.

Other popular Mount Ida events include the Good Ol' Days Festival, an antique car and crafts festival held each May, and the Mount Ida Front Porch Stage Concerts, featuring live music on the courthouse lawn Saturday nights May through October.

Located approximately 35 miles west of Hot Springs at the crossroads of U.S. Route 270 and State Route 27, Mount Ida is a great place to call home in west-central Arkansas.
